Story submissions are accepted at any time. To be included in a specific issue, please see deadlines below. Stories submitted will be reviewed by the InspirED Michigan editorial team and those that best meet the needs of each issue will be published.

November 2016 -- Caring for the Student
Who are all the people who give their time to help create a child's education? From janitors, lunch monitors, coaches, administrators to para-pros, PTA presidents and school media specialists teachers - what role do they play and what do we need to know from them?

News submissions deadline - Thursday, November 9th
December 2016 -- At-risk Students
Kids across Michigan are living out of cars, in hotels and in shelters. What community support is available to help them? How are we engaging immigrant parents and students with English as a second language needs? What new legislation, school programs or community services are out there to help students overcome obstacles like these and more?

Story Submission Guidelines
Please submit ONE story idea per form.
All stories must be positive and non-political -- no negative articles or legislative advocacy will be published.
InspirED Michigan is published the third Thursday of each month.
We accept links to news stories and are always in need of relevant news content. News stories can be previously published in local or national media, school newsletters, local blogs, etc. News stories should be timely and will be preferred if related to the month's theme.
We accept feature stories, or ideas for feature stories, that share statewide relevance such as career readiness, early childhood, center-based programs of excellence, outstanding student program performance and more.
Stories must be one of the following:
- Related to the monthly theme.
- Robust or regionally represented.
- Around 600-800 words.
If your story idea is selected to be published, you will be contacted for the story, photos and captions. Photos MUST be 580x387 pixels in a .jpg format. There are several free programs that are easy to use and give you more control over the quality of your images: GIMP
is a free alternative to Adobe Photoshop; Paint.NET
is a free, more functional alternative to MS Paint; or Irfanview
allows you to resize images in bulk.
We accept videos capturing theme ideas, or other notable projects. One video is featured per issue. Videos are accepted via YouTube link, embedded code, Vimeo link and MP4 format.
